PRIVATE LESSONS
Lindsay teaches private piano, guitar, and voice lessons out of her home studio in Logan Square. She works with students of all ages, from preschoolers to grandparents. Lindsay believes that everyone has the ability to make music that feels enjoyable and rewarding, and that they can get better at doing so with encouragement and practice, no matter their age or previous experience.
Private lessons with Lindsay are high fun and low pressure. She loves to develop musical relationships with her students, tailoring material to the needs and interests of each individual. Her teaching style is playful and personalized, allowing for student creativity and input. She does not demand perfection, but she does expect regular practice during the week so that students can grow and enjoy their own musicality. Lindsay strives for a classroom in which every student is challenged and every student is successful, according to their own unique ability.
Lindsay and her students use a variety of materials in their lessons, depending on the learner's skill level and interests. They've worked with method books, classical pieces, chord-based pop/rock/folk charts, musical theater numbers, karaoke tracks, jazz standards, guitar tablature, and original arrangements composed to match the student's ability. Students have explored songwriting and composition, developed their understanding of music theory, prepared for auditions, figured out songs by ear, played duets with family members, slayed at talent shows, changed instruments, discovered voices, started bands. Annual recitals of Lindsay's students have been held at Elastic Arts.

“Piano lessons with Lindsay are a highlight of our week. Lindsay's positivity and highly engaging lessons have helped both my son and daughter to grow musically while boosting their confidence and self-esteem in all they do.”

Lindsay teaches from this Kawai console piano in her dining room. It's connected to the living room, where caregivers are welcome to hang during the lesson. They are also free to drop off students and grab a coffee, make some calls, walk the dog, go for a run, whatever-- and return when the lesson is over.
Most students come weekly, for 30- or 45-minute lessons. In-person lessons are best for learning, but when circumstances call for it, virtual lessons via Zoom are a nice option to have available.
Lindsay does have two friendly cats, Banjo and Baxter. They love to greet students and sniff instrument cases.
“I love my guitar lessons with Lindsay. She excels at teaching musicality as well as fundamentals, and totally understands and supports my goal as an adult student, which is to be able to play music that pleases my ears, exercises my (ever older!) brain, and puts me in the flow…a very nice place to be.”

“We feel incredibly lucky to have found Lindsay Weinberg! Our daughter began voice lessons with Lindsay, and it was immediately clear that we had discovered something special. Lindsay not only has exceptional musical talent and teaching ability, but she also brings such kindness, patience, and enthusiasm to every lesson. Our daughter quickly grew in confidence and skill—and, most importantly, she absolutely loved going to lessons each week. After seeing how much she was thriving, we added piano lessons with Lindsay as well. She continued to grow musically under Lindsay’s thoughtful guidance. Lindsay truly goes above and beyond—she meets each student where they are, encourages them with positivity, and helps them develop both their skills and their love for music. We cannot recommend Lindsay highly enough. She is a rare gem of a teacher, and we’re so grateful for the impact she’s had on our daughter’s musical journey.”
