Beginning in 2011 as a weekly performance party at Beauty Bar, Salonathon has expanded into one raging Doomsday Eve party to be hosted on December 20 at Metro. Showcasing local talent and featuring an eclectic lineup, Salonathon will blend a “giant end-of-the-world party, a holiday-themed performance salon and a typical night in a rock club. Last night alive or not, Salonathon is bound to be an unforgettable night.
Staying true to Salonathon’s mission of providing a platform for the movers and shakers of the local art community, the bill is jam packed with Chicago native acts. Breakout rapper Big Dipper will headline the night, with cult avant-garde rockers Baathhaus trailing closely behind. Salonathon will also be featuring on-the-verge electronic musician Grades, harboring support and collaborations by burlesque ensemble The Fly Honeys, drag artist Shea Coulee and comedian Dean Evans as Honeybuns. Keeping any dull moment at bay, Salonathon house DJ Swaguerilla will be spinning throughout the night.
Aimed to fuel the sparks of emerging local talent and to promote Chicago’s art scene, Metro is proud to present this night of Chicago creative pride and camaraderie. Come celebrate local art—and possibly our last night on Earth—with Salonathon!
